Field Day-cum-Training program in Nandurbar under TSP on 21st Jan 2026

Field Day-cum-Training program in Navapur taluka of Nandurbar under TSP on 21st Jan 2026 was organized by ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar, Pune at village, Nimbhoni, Navapur taluka of Nandurbar (MS). The Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) focuses to support Scheduled Tribes (STs) by developing productive assets that enhance sustainable growth, agricultural output and income generation. As a part of Tribal Sub-Plan activities, ICAR-DOGR regularly conducts trainings, demonstrations and input distribution for cultivation and seed production of onion and garlic to provide a source of livelihood to the farmers under the guidance of Dr. Amar Jeet Gupta, Principal Scientist (Hort.)/Nodal Officer (TSP), ICAR-DOGR, Pune.
Dr. Gupta, coordinated the program and delivered lectures on TSP activities, improved varieties of onion and garlic including rabi onion production technology. He highlighted about impact of TSP on livelihood improvement of tribal farmers of Navapur taluka including benefits gained by the farmers from this scheme. Moreover, the inputs like fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, weedicides and implements have also been distributed on 21st Jan, 2026 to the selected farmers for conduct of demonstration during rabi 2025-26 at the farmers field in collaboration with KVK, Nandurbar (MS). Dr. A.R. Wakhare, Senior Technical Officer, ICAR-DOGR, Pune and Dr. P.C. Kunde (SMS, Plant Protection) of KVK, Nandurbar were also present for the program. The monitoring of seven onion seed production plots at the farmer’s field was done by the committee. Dr. Wakhare delivered a lecture on the onion seed production for rabi onion and Dr. Kunde gave a lecture on the strategies for plant protection and methods to achieve agricultural produce.
Farmers were also encouraged to adopt the commercial cultivation of onion and new technologies developed by ICAR-DOGR. The queries of the farmers were answered during the interactive session. The farmers also actively expressed their gratitude towards the distribution of inputs. Farmers including Shri Krushna Ashok Kokani, Shri Mahendra Mangalya Kokani, Shri Ishwar Fatya Gavit and Shrimati Archana Surupsingh Valvi expressed their satisfaction and appreciated ICAR-DOGR for its exceptional support to tribal farmers. Program ended with the vote of thanks presented by Shri Gulab Sukhlal Kokani.
