The ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune is actively participating in the Special Campaign 5.0 from 2nd to 31st Oct 2025 as per the instructions of ICAR, New Delhi and organizing a series of impactful activities during this schedule with the motive of Swachhata Hi Seva. The launch of PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Dalhan Self-Reliance Mission by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was also conducted on 11th Oct 2025. The program was inaugurated by the Dr. V Mahajan, Director, ICAR-DOGR Pune along with Dr. Ram Dutta (Pr. Scientist), Dr. A.J. Gupta (Pr. Scientist) and Dr. Rajiv Kale (Sr. Scientist) felicitated the function. The scientific, technical, administrative, contractual staffs and skilled workers also attended the function. About 152 farmers from Khed and Ambegoan talukas of Pune were participated the program. Dr. Mahajan, inspired participants about the importance of the scheme as a token of agricultural projects worth ₹42,000+ crore to our farmer brothers and sisters along with the inauguration and foundation laying of more than 1100 agricultural projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Food Processing sectors. Dr. Dutta emphasized the government’s special focus on crop diversification, market-driven agriculture and horticulture-based farming models. Dr. Gupta, Pr. Scientist & Nodal officer (SBA) briefed about Govt. of India programs includes TSP, SCSP and NEH schemes. He also motivated the awareness of Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign 2025 conducted from 17th Sep to 1st Oct 2025, Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd Oct 2025 and on-going Special Campaign 5.0 from 2nd to 31st Oct 2025. During the schedule of Swachhata Hi Seva, the institute members undertook various cleanliness drives across difficult spots and high-footfall zones across the campus and Kalus farm. Cultural and creative initiatives, such as poetry, debate, quiz competitions, sanitation art parks and community selfie points were also organized spreading the message of cleanliness and safety. A Swachhata Samwad was also held with active participation of scientific, technical staff and scholars. Health check-up was arranged for workers and staff linked the campaign with welfare and preventive health schemes. Awareness was raised for flagship health schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Mission Indradhanush and social welfare schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) during the program. On 2nd Oct 2025, Swachh Bharat Diwas was conducted with a closing ceremony by certificates distribution to winners of various competitions held during this period. The on-going Special Campaign 5.0 action plan includes cleanliness activities, space management and beautification of offices etc. at the institute from 2nd to 31st Oct 2025. Swachhata Campaign at outside the ICAR-DOGR campus such as APMC Market Yard, Gultekadi, Pune; Ambegoan taluka near Bhima Shankar; Primary School, Panchayat Office, Primary health centers of Shiroli and Chandoli, Khed taluka of Pune was arranged. This Special Campaign made the institute members for the enthusiastic participation and innovative initiatives, reflected the institute’s commitment to the vision of a cleaner, healthier and more responsible India.
